OMG! I had no idea…

OMG! I had no idea how much fun it is to Plank. What is planking? The idea is to find something difficult, challenging or daring even then lay face down across it with arms at your side & legs straight out. Don’t forget to point your toes! I started out simple then worked my way to more daring items. Here’s a few pics of my planks…

Oh Boy! I hate to say it but “I knew this was coming!”

What can I say? Oh I know….I knew this was coming. Mom always said “stop running around before you fall & crack your head open!” Nicholas did just that! Fell while playing around & hit his head on the corner of a wall. Cracked his little head open.

NC Vacation July 2011

I arrived at Heather’s home Saturday around 6:45pm. I left Cleveland at 10:25am….driving an average of 90mph…. It took me a little over 7hrs to get here! I did stop twice. Once to get my oil changed before the trip ( that took about 25min ) & again to fill up once I got into NC. So actual driving time minus the stops was about 6 1/2 hrs!!!!

There’s a first for everything!

Well who would have guessed it? Not me. If there was to be a major injury in the Hill family I would have put my money on Nicholas getting the first big one. I would have gone broke on such a bet. Sarah Grace Hill age 6 has broken her arm. How? She was playing on her mother’s elliptical. I can only imagine exactly how it happened. I suspect she was swinging the leg part then got her arm caught while it was swinging. Ouch! Yup I think that would snap a bone if caught. Good news is she’ll be fine and hopefully realizes that mommy’s elliptical is not a toy for her to play on. Hell it takes a lot just to get mom on that thing! Lol.

Happy Father’s Day

It’s been just over 14 years since my Dad passed away from a heart attack. It was early morning January 13, 1997 when he woke, got out of bed, headed towards the kitchen to make his coffee when he called out to my Mom & collapsed. I made it to the house just seconds after the fire rescue squad & I was the 3rd person that got the call for help. I lived a couple miles further away then the fire station that responded, so to say after 14 years I still hold a little resentment for their lack of a speedy response is true. I can’t help the way I feel, it was my Dad! I won’t place blame on them for his death, I just don’t comprehend the structure of 911 & the time it takes for rescue to respond.

My God Babies are growing up…..& I hate it!

Michael (holding Otto), Sarah, Christy & Timmy

I have 3 God Babies who, well, aren’t babies anymore :-(  I miss the days of throwing them in the air, them “rolling Mimi off the bed, the couch, the lounge chair….”. I miss when they would run with open arms yelling “Mimi’s here! Mimi’s here!” Now….well now they come running with open hands! LOL just kidding.

Michael was the first baby of my closest friends. He just turned 17 May 26th. I have to say he was the most irritable infant I have ever come across. He was always crying. The only way I could get him to nap was to pack him up in my car & drive, & drive, & drive some more. I put thousands of miles on my car for this kid. He did blossom into the most caring toddler. He was always looking out for his baby brother & he was SO CUTE! Those baby blue eyes, light brown hair, & a round head! LOL. I can’t believe how grown he has become. I really didn’t want him to grow up…but he did. He plays guitar & drums in his rock band and the trumpet in his HS band. He is a very good musician! The band plays at a local hang out in Akron. I don’t know where cause I have yet to attend one of his gigs. I know, I know, bad Mimi. I got to see him march at a couple football games last year. He’s so handsome in his band uniform.

Timmy was the 2nd baby, born June 10 (he’s 15 now) & I was not initially his Godmother. My friends sister had that honor. Note “had”. Timmy fired her as his Godmother & adopted me! I don’t think she knows about that. I always called Timmy “my Superman” because he has jet black hair & was so damn adorable! I mean really pleasant, never cried (except when he was hungry), always seemed happy to see everyone (especially me) & he was potty trained early (Thanks to big brother Michael). Timmy also plays in the band with the saxophone & he is good at it. He loves all sports and I believe baseball is by far his most favorite because he excels at it. He likes pitching & is a pretty good hitter. He wants to play football but also wants to march with the band. He’s torn between two things he really likes. My advice was to write down all the pro’s of marching band then all the con’s & he has to do the same with football. He’ll make his decision after he completes his first football camp. He asked me what position he should play. I simply explained each position of the O-line & D-line, to the best of my knowledge, & asked him what he likes more. The unbridled aggressiveness of the D-line or the skill based knowledge of an O-line? There’s a lot to learn on both sides of the ball, but the O-line requires more “knowledge” of the playbook, blocks, & skill moves vs the D-lines simple goal of getting to the ball with a quickness! Sure the D-line needs skill moves too but really there’s only four – swat, swim, rip & bull rush. Either way he has a lot to think about.

Then there’s Sarah. Such a princess. That baby hated me, her mother, pretty much any female! I remember holding her & she started crying. Michael, just 6 at the time, walks up to me & says “Here Mimi, you can give her to me”…I was like “kid! Go away!”…then I gave her to him. She stopped crying. I couldn’t believe it. Mom was like “Don’t feel bad, she don’t like me either”. Well she came around sometime when she was 10 to 12 months old. She loves her Mom & her Mimi now.  When she was a toddler everything pink & purple was considered “fashion” to her. EVERYTHING she wore had to be pink or purple or she wouldn’t wear it! Did I mention “Princess”? There came a day she wanted her hair cut so she could donate it. She had heard about donating hair for kids who needed it, like cancer patients, and wanted to help. She was around 6 or 7 & her hair was so long & pretty. I know cause I spent a lot of time brushing it. I am so proud of her cause she continues to donate every time her hair gets long enough. Sarah just had a birthday April 30th & I took her shopping at the mall. We had such a good time but it was cut short cause Timmy had a baseball game & I really wanted to go. Don’t say anything! I told Sarah we would visit the mall again soon…so shet up! She is a cheerleader & looks very cute in her uniform. She is blossoming into a very pretty young lady.

Christy & Mimi

Christy is their mother & my best friend since the 3rd grade, that’s a 33 year friendship, how many of you have friends for that long? I am fortunate to have TWO! I’ll write about the other one in a bit. We have our own way of having fun that people just don’t get. She moved away to Uniontown from Canton when we were about 14. I would ride my bike all the way to her house in Uniontown so we could hang out. If you don’t know how far that ride is, it’s about 20 miles! Yup, I would do that for her, then I would call my Mom to come pick me up. Come on now don’t judge, that’s a long way to ride! We keep each other young at heart with the help of the kids always wanting to play. Christy is the type of friend where we may not see or speak to one another for weeks, but always manage to pick up right where we left off. We KNOW one another so well.

I LOVE this family & enjoy being a part of their lives.

Mimi
